Being a wedding photographer in California has so many perks. You can be in the forest, in a barn, in a gorgeous ballroom, or on the beach within the span of a single day. Every day is different and every day I get to work with amazing couples on one of the most joyful days of their lives, surrounded by close friends and family. I get to look through my lens into a tiny window into their relationship, their families, and document everything I can.

I can’t possibly pick one day, one shoot or even one moment in time to describe my experience as a photographer. It certainly didn’t happen overnight for me and if you ask me how I got to be where I am today, I’m not sure I would have a short answer for you. But I’ll try my best to clue you in to who I am as a photographer.

Hey there! My name is Jessica and I am the owner and principal photographer of Glitz & Glory Photography.

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone"

...and that is exactly how my adventure began - taking a huge leap of faith, full of determination, to break out of my comfort zone.

I met the Dukes family through an event benefitting victims of Hurricane Harvey. It wasn't too long ago Harvey swept through the Gulf and claimed many lives and properties. The Children and Family Photographers (CFPH) of Houston banded together and gifted mini sessions to families that had been impacted by the hurricane during the month of November. The Dukes were one of the families assigned to my area. It felt great giving back and helping in a tangible way. Most of these families lost everything in the aftermath of the hurricane. Giving back in this seemingly small way was a huge blessing for them.

When you look back on the moments you remember most, I bet they are the moments that didn’t turn out quite like you had planned. Moments where you got a little lost. Moments where you came to a roadblock and had to come up with another plan. But the reason that moment is one you remember so well is because the result was something so much more beautiful than you could have ever imagined.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiana Creation.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a full-time mom and a part-time photographer. I have four amazing children, and a wonderful, supportive husband who are the joy and inspiration of my life and my business. I am a lover of family, pets, fun and photography. My enthusiasm for photography started 8 years ago with the birth of my second child. I started my business in 2011 and it has been a wonderful journey. I love to meet new people, make children laugh, capture the beauty and innocence of new life, and share my passion for photography with others. I strive to capture images that will help you remember those fun, happy, special, beautiful, and precious moments in life.

I have been in the family and lifestyle photography business for 8 years. But I have a Ph.D. in Archaeology and worked for over twenty years in college classrooms, consulting companies and archaeological sites. In 2007 I even wrote a book on the archaeology of slavery in the north, based on my excavations outside of Boston.  So I’m a scientist. But as an anthropologist, author and teacher, I also like to tell people that while I might have put down my shovel and picked up my camera, I'm doing the same thing either way - watching people and telling stories.  

My boutique photography studio, Samantha Grant Photography, exclusively caters to high school senior portraiture in Northern California. I love the entire process of designing the shoot, working with seniors to make them look fantastic during their session, and also creating beautiful heirloom works of art for their families to cherish. But here at Basic Invite I’m going to discuss one of the finer points to photoshoot prep that comes up for me time and again: outfits.

We are Brick Street Studio, a photographer team made up of Karlee Bailey and Marisa Lies. We own a studio thats based in the heart of Ionia, Michigan and love traveling the state and beyond for our client's photography needs. We shoot a lot of weddings, senior portraits, and families but also love going out of our comfort zones and producing other creative images whether it be for personal use or for a client. We've been doing photography for 7 years but our studio just officially opened in August of 2016.

One of California's secret treasures is the stunning Montana de Oro. This park features rugged cliffs, secluded sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, including 1,347-foot Valencia Peak. Naturalists and backpackers enjoy the solitude and freedom found along the park's trails. There are also mountain biking and equestrian trails. The best-known beach is Spooner's Cove, across from the campground. The park's name, "Mountain of Gold," comes from the golden wildflowers that bloom in spring. Wildlife in the park includes black tailed deer and the black oyster catcher. The park includes primitive and equestrian campsites. Across from the beach, guests may spot an old ranch house. This is a remnant of a dairy farm run by the Pecho family in the late 1800s. It is hard to believe there is no entry fee to enter the park and there is something to do for everyone in the family.
