My name is Kali Taaffe Rawls and I am a mom of 3 boys, a preschool teacher and an event planner/coordinator. My favorite thing about being in this industry is helping couples on one of the biggest days of their life. I thrive on taking the chaos away and helping make their big day fairy-tale perfect. Being a teacher, mom and coordinator is pretty much the same thing; the only differences are the venue, the clients and the demands.

Hey Everyone - My name is Meg and I am the girl behind the camera of Meg Shanahan Photography! A question I am often asked is what my favorite part about wedding photography is and my answer, if I am being perfectly honest, is quite simple and cheesy. What can I say I am a hopeless romantic! I live for the little details and big moments while I photograph a wedding and love, love, LOVE to capture these moments that become permanent memories. There's nothing better than catching that raw and real candid moment during a wedding. I just love love!

Before knowing event planning was such a thing, I used to dream of a day where I could create beautifully themed events, "wowing" anyone who would see. Now that I see that can be my reality, I am partially in disbelief yet 80% constantly filled with excitement. From creating a client's color palette to ensure the day-of host(s) have everything that he/she needs to enjoy their special moment, I love this!

H e l l o. My name is Christina! Who knew 9+ years ago, I’d be a full-time photographer, going on nearly 5 years doing it exclusively, and falling more and more in love with this art? I hunger for real moments and see beauty in all things. I’m always down for adventure and that cheesy, dreamy love, that we always see in movies. Luckily, my job allows me to capture love all the time! I’m stepping into destination wedding/ elopement photography and my excitement about it is on an all-time high.

The comfort of home and the beauty created by nature is an awesome scene.  We would like to show you some ideas on how to prepare for you backyard weddings. No two weddings are the same, each wedding will have unique challenges. This does not mean you should not have your backyard wedding. However, it does mean that you must prepare for the unexpected. I was headed back to Las Vegas from Palm Springs after spending a week in Southern California.  The trip was meant to give me a respite from the long and cold winter in Fargo.  It was a drive I had made a handful of times over the years so I wasn't expecting to unearth any new photographic inspiration, but when I saw the sign for the Joshua Tree exit, I couldn't resist. It was one place in the area I had never been.  How could I pass up to opportunity to shoot an iconic National Park when it was only 30 miles away?  As an artist, I am always looking for new inspiration and this was right up my alley! Little did I know, that that short distance would quickly turn my side trip into an entire afternoon/evening excursion.

As a kid, my parents placed great emphasis on the importance of family history. I carried that idea with me throughout the years and began recording our own family history through photos. When I decided to be a photographer, I knew that I wanted to be a family historian, photographically anyway. I wanted to grow with my clients and photograph them from the time their story began through the birth of their first child and each milestone to follow. Now, as a full-time wedding and family photographer, I have put that dream into practice. Gradually, my motto became, "The love story doesn't end at 'I do.'" Truly, I believe,  that is where it begins. So when I partnered with Basic Invite and they asked me to write a piece which would share my story while highlighting one of my favorite sessions, I had to choose one of my favorite couples.
