My name is Cat Wood and I am a professional portrait photographer. As a child, I grew up watching my father work as an audio visual engineer. I spent my days watching photographers swarm stages while capturing amazing memories for a lifetime. To say I was in the photography business from day one is an understatement. Being behind the scenes planted the seed that would lead to the amazingly rewarding career I have today as a portrait photographer!

I’ve been obsessed with the world around me ever since I was younger, the textures, grit, the beautiful and the not so beautiful. Being able to capture an image that you completely compose in your mind is like an elixir all on its own. Photography has been my passion for many years but the intention of progressing in this field didn’t start until around 2010. Which was when I discovered how much there was to learn, how much there is still to learn.

I know Green Screen is not traditional by any means. It is not something that many photographers are comfortable with. Yet it is almost entirely how I shoot. My background in visual effects is quite extensive as I started out in videography and not photography.

A portrait is so many things more than just a photograph of you. It's a celebration of who you are, a discovery and a legacy. I feel like when I put a camera up your inner soul comes forward. I also see everything you don't like about yourself, your confidence, how you hold yourself, how you feel about your body. My purpose was that if I can show you how beautiful you are and that's not the outside It's the inside and there's a strange connection when you look good you feel good. When you feel good you look good and that moment is priceless and I love doing it. I see tears , I see people realize their true beauty. It's a gift.

This right here is my true passion! Capturing portraits of children having fun, doing what they love, and capturing those little details that will so quickly change. Photographing children is so much fun, seeing their personality is my favorite part. This session was a BLAST! His mama is always creating fantastic props for her boy's sessions and at this session, she blew me away!

I remember getting my first DLSR in 7th grade (shoutout to gramps, you’re the real MVP!), and shooting in full auto mode. God, I’m embarrassed just thinking about that. And I’d love to claim that that was the day I knew photography was going to be something for me, but in reality, it didn't happen until six years later. Once I had my daughter, that's when everything started to click for me.
