To say I love adventure wedding photography is a bit of an understatement. Though I'm based in New York and California, I've worked on six different continents as a photographer--and the more adventure we have on a shoot, the better!Â

Â
When I realized I could combine my wedding photography business with my love for adventure and the outdoors...well, let's just say I was thrilled for what was to come. These days, I take on unique elopements, engagements, proposals, and weddings large and small. Whether in the USA or abroad, they all have the Kathryn Cooper Weddings mark of adventure!

Â
For this engagement shoot in Colorado, my clients were an incredibly sweet couple named Yasmine and Thomas. My assistant and I went to a unique park called Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs the day before to scout out where I wanted to shoot, and then woke up to capture sunrise in the park the next morning. By the time Yasmine and Thomas arrived, the sun was already blazing down! No worries--we had an amazing shoot in several areas of the park, and then headed to nearby Manitou Springs for some local ice cream and arcade action.
Â
When it comes to my wedding photography, I love blending my penchant for exploration with unique storytelling for my client photoshoots. I call my style creative photojournalism with a healthy dose of fun, color, and adventure. Typically, my couples are more nontraditional and have a love for the outdoors. I shoot most of my elopements and engagements in New York City, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and California--though as a destination wedding photographer I never know where my next booking will be! The best part? My couples are usually up for anything, whether it's an underwater shoot, a hike to abandoned ruins, or a sunrise mountain session. I love to tell each love story in a more creative way, adding in photo moments that truly capture my clients' personalities (along with epic views and candid reactions, of course!).
Â
This is one of my favorite shoots because it took place in a beautiful part of the country (with rock climbers above our heads, no less!), I had a great couple up for climbing all over the rocks, and we just had fun! Though I enjoy getting even more creative with lighting, water, and action--I've photographed couples in helicopters, on private islands, and more--it was a really wonderful day with great people. Most of the time my photoshoots don't even seem like work to me, because I have fun and my clients love seeing the world in a different way.Â
Â
When my love for photography is combined with travel, creativity, adventure, and great couples, I just can't wait to do more! From New York and the Caribbean to Indonesia and Switzerland, I can't wait for what the next wedding adventure brings.
