Details to include on your Enclosure card

Including an enclosure card with your wedding invitation is a great way to communicate to your guest additional wedding day details. Whether you want to provide your guests with directions to your wedding venue, or let them know the address of a local hotel, a wedding enclosure card can be used as Reception Cards, Direction Cards, Accommodation Cards and more!

Not sure what to include on your enclosure card? No worries, we are here to walk you through this! We have outlined below the common uses and etiquette for wording on your Wedding Invitation Enclosure cards.

Accommodation Card: For your guests who will be traveling from out of town, it is a common courtesy to include a hotel which is convenient and affordable for them to stay. When placing this information on your enclosure card, be sure to include the hotel name, address, phone number and website. Also if there is a special rate code that you have established with the hotel be sure to include this information as well.

Reception Card: When the ceremony and reception are held in different locations, adding a Reception enclosure card will help direct your guests. Here you can provide your guests with the Venue name and address.

Directions and Transportation Card: If including a map always be sure to also include written directions and keep in mind that guests will be coming from all directions. If local transportation is available to use you can also provide them with information such as shuttles, parking and public transit lines.

Additional Wedding Events Card: For those guests you would like to join you for other weekend activities, you can choose to provide an enclosure card letting them know a schedule of events such as, rehearsal dinners and post wedding brunches to name a few.

Other details to consider placing on your enclosure cards:

Attire: If your wedding is outdoors and super casual or an indoor elegant setting, it’s a nice piece of information to advise your guests on what to wear.

Website Information: This is a great way to share with your guests all the information on your big day.

Alternate location: For outdoor weddings, it’s important to provide information on the alternative location in the event of rain.

We offer wedding enclosure cards that will match your invitation exactly, or you can choose an enclosure card that will compliment your invitation’s style. We offer a variety of insert cards that will deliver your information with style!

A Real Wedding that joins the community

wedding ceremony

This Real Wedding takes place at the Fremont Abbey in Seattle, WA. A beautiful old brick church building (originally a Lutheran church built in 1914) with a warm, vintage feel. The location was chosen by the bride and groom for several reasons, but the foremost motive was their excitement to work with a nonprofit organization, which added a meaningful element to their day.

Our bride tells us about the planning of her wedding, “…I found quickly that it is easy to feel lost in the wedding industry "machine." For that reason, we attempted to keep our wit's about us while planning and work with vendors we liked and supported. We hoped to invest in organizations that seemed to represent integrity and generosity in their business. While the Abbey does host a limited number of weddings every year, its focus is on local arts programs and we really liked the idea of supporting through our venue fee, as it felt like a way to give back in the midst of the chaos of planning. That said, we absolutely appreciated the architecture and atmosphere of the Abbey, in addition to its artistic mission!” Read more about the experience of Sarah and Chris’s special day.

What was your highlight of the day?

My highlight of the day is less about a specific moment, and more about the overall big picture of the day. Almost every part of our day was assisted, designed, or implemented by family and friends, so it was without doubt a collaborative effort. Chris grew up in Boise, I grew up in Portland, and we chose to get married in Seattle, where we had met and dated--so to have all our worlds collide together for that weekend was an incredible gift. This was particularly evident when a group of friends we had met in Portland or Seattle--a group of people now literally spread out across the globe, with many of them meeting for the first time that weekend--surprised us at the reception with a choreographed dance. That's right: in between all the prep of decorations, clothes, the rehearsal dinner, and a million other details, our friends were staying up late to hold secret dance rehearsals. We felt like the luckiest people in the world in that moment! Chris and I view the wedding day itself as an example of a community working together to create something lovely and meaningful. We can see their fingerprints all over the day, and this has made us smile and happy cry every time we reminisce.

Is there some unique you choose to do for your special day.?

We also served brunch for dinner! We served up a delicious waffle bar with various toppings, quiche, scones, and cheesy potatoes, and had mimosas and a coffee cart amongst our drink options. We love breakfast foods, and thought this would be a fun twist on the more formal dinner served at evening weddings.

Would have liked to do anything differently?

I would have taken a bit more time off of work in the week leading up to the wedding. I was starting to feel really frazzled until I finally caught up on sleep two days before the wedding, and everything looked so much more beautiful and relaxed after that night of rest!

I would also delegate more tasks and details (I think this is a common woe among DIY brides). For the first few months of planning, I worried about putting too much on my loved ones, so I tried to do as much as I could alone. I realized that they really wanted to help out, not only because they loved us, but because it gave them a sense of contributing! It was fun for them to see their contributions involved when the day came--they felt some ownership in the day, which was fun to see.

What advice could you give to couples planning their upcoming wedding?

Make sure to schedule time with your fiancé where the goal is to relax and have fun, not wedding plan. It can be easy to feel like that's all you should be working on, but the whole point of the planning is a joyous commitment of love and faithfulness you'll be making at the end! Don't forget to take care of the relationship in the midst of the madness of planning.

Utilize friends and family as much as you can, because it's more fun to work with people you already know and love--but use a day-of wedding planner! The people who know and love the bride and groom should be relaxing and enjoying the wedding day, not running around trying to make sure everything got taken care of. I planned most of the wedding, but communicated all the details and plans to my day-of coordinator. From the rehearsal dinner on, any questions about timing, details, or logistics went to her.

Use a checklist that breaks down what needs to be done by when. I think this helped me in my moments of feeling totally overwhelmed--I would remember, this is all I have to do for this week. I will worry about the rest as it presents itself. It made everything feel more bite-sized and managable.

Also, build some moments in where you can be alone for a moment or two on the big day. It's wonderful to be surrounded by loved ones, but I was glad for the few times I could be alone and let the significance of the commitment I was making really sink in.

Writing your Wedding Thank You Cards

Planning a wedding can be a fun and overwhelming task. There are many things to plan: finding your wedding venue, thinking about what food and drinks to serve, collecting guest mailing addresses, sending out your wedding invitations and of course having a bridal shower and/or a bachelorette / bachelor party!

That’s why its great to get some helping hands leading up to your big day. Most family members and friends are very happy to help out and even give you wedding presents. Don’t ever take their help and presents for granted! Sending a personalized handwritten thank you card during your wedding planning process or after your wedding is over, will go a long way to show that you truly appreciate the help, and / or wedding presents you’ve received.

3 things to keep in mind when writing your wedding Thank You Cards:

Call out specifically what you are thankful for!
Whatever your family and friends helped you with, call it out! Whether its help with finding a photographer, organizing your bachelor party or stuffing all the invitation envelopes, your family and friends will appreciate the personal message. Its the same thing for thanking your wedding guests for a present they gave you. Thank them specifically for the present and maybe add a little sentence about how you plan to use their present. We recommend writing down which presents you received from your guests, this will make it easier to write the personalized thank you note later on.

Write from your heart!
It might sound easy and maybe cheesy, but writing a genuine thank you note takes some time and effort. You don’t want to come off like a robot, copy / pasting the same words on every card. Put some real thought in each card, the receiver will appreciate this!

It doesn’t have to be so serious, add some humor!
Planning a wedding is fun and I’m sure you’re experiencing several ‘unexpected’ situations, so why not write your Thank You Card wording in a funny yet thoughtful way! Did something go right or wrong during your wedding planning, laugh about it and briefly mention it in your Thank You Card to the people involved.

  • “I’m so glad all of us walked down the aisle without falling on our faces like we thought would happen!”
  • ‘Who knew wedding cake from the ground would taste so good?”
  • “We’re glad uncle Harry enjoyed the open bar as much as we did!”
  • “Thanks so much for the new grilling pan, can’t wait for you guys to come over for dinner, I promise not to burn your meal with these new pans!”

Intimate real wedding celebration with family and friends

Today’s real wedding we join Jessica and Justin as they share their special day with us. We loved how fun and intimate the day was for them and their guests. Jessica’s highlight of the day for her was her walk down the aisle towards her now husband. She tells us “I did not think I would get so emotional, but I broke down crying. It was such an overwhelming feeling to be celebrated and loved by him and all my friends and family.”

If they were to do anything differently, Jessica tells us “I would have liked to have more time with my wedding party and photographer.” having more time for photos between the ceremony or the reception, or perhaps done a first look.

Their advice for future brides and grooms “If you don't get a planner, hire a coordinator! It was the best thing I ever did. She was worth every penny.”

Get your guests ready for the delicious dinner ahead with a wedding menu designed to match your wedding invitations. A wedding menu is a detail that is not only practical, but also a great decorative element for your tables.

Things to remember when creating your menu:

Theme: Choose a menu to fit the theme of your reception and/or wedding stationery. From a sit down dinner to buffets and BBQs, this is your day so make the menu something special that reflects your style as well.

Menu details: The traditional menu sizes are either 5” x 7” or 4” x 9.25”. The couple's first names can be placed at the top, followed by the date underneath OR simply place the word Menu.

Course listing: begin with headers for the appetizer/salad, entrée(s) and then desert. Under each of these you may place a brief description of what will be served for the night.

When to order: Menu's should be ordered about 1-2 months prior to your date, however, be sure to check with your caterer on the final menu for any last minute alterations before going to print
